31.03.2006 The academic senior counselor Dipl.-Ing. Achim Leutz retires
01.01.2006 The name "Hermann Föttinger Institute" is transferred to the department designation for the branch of HFI previously known as “Experimental Fluid Mechanics”
14.12.2005 The board of trustees of TUB confirms the name change of HFI to the "Institute of Fluid Dynamics and Technical Acoustics” (ISTA) on 1.1.2006
21.10.2005 Death of Professor Dr.-Ing. Wolfgang Liebe
10.05.2005 The department approves the renaming of HFI to "Institute of Fluid Dynamics and Technical Acoustics”
01.04.2005 The former Institute for Technical Acoustics is relocated to HFI

01.07.2001 Beginning of the 2nd phase of the Collaborative Research Center 557: Control of Complex and Turbulent Shear Flows (Speaker: Prof. Dillmann)
01.04.2001 Professor Dr.-Ing. Helmut Siekmann relocated back to HFI with his Fluid Dynamics department, especially that of Fluid Flow Engines
01.04.2001 HFI now belongs to new Faculty V: Mechanical Engineering and Transport Systems. This faculty consists of institutions of the former Department 10 (Transport Systems and Applied Mechanics) and 11 (Mechanical Engineering and Production Technology)

01.10.1993 HFI now belongs to the new Department 10: Transport Systems and Applied Machnics. This department consists of institutions from the former Department 9 (Physical Engineering Sciences) and 12 (Transportation Systems)
01.08.1992 Professor Dr.-Ing. Frank Thiele is appointed to the head of the department of Numerical Methods in Thermofluid Dynamics
