Measurement and Information Technology I

Laseroptische Vermessung an einem Modell eines Schnellzuges

The course starts on Monday 16.04. 10:15 in MB13 (no Uebung/exercise before)!

Further particulars will there be published (deadlines, group assignment, measurement dates, etc.)

Number of participants is limited to 40. Registration per email is mandatory as is attendance at the first session (Monday 16.04.)

Time and Place

This information is provided in the course overview on the TU-Homepage:

course id 0531 L 251 (lecture)
and 0531 L 252 (execise)

The course offers an overview of the techniques and equipment used in the measurement of flows in both industry and the laboratory.

Various measurement techniques are employed in order to investigate fluid mechanical problems hands-on. Alongside measurement technology, other aspects are handled, such as computer-aided data collection and processing, as well as carrying out a project in a team oriented manner. The course also includes an introduction to the software “Labview.”

Group work is required.

in Summer Semester (MIS I):

  • Experimental Setup, Wind and Water Tunnels
  • Similarity Analysis
  • Flow Visualizations
  • Pressure Measurements
  • Force Measurements
  • Laser Doppler Anemometry

in Winter Semester (MIS II):

  • Modern Optical Measurement Techniques
  • Hot-Wire Anemomentry
  • Anemometry (LDA) and Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV)
  • Digital Signal Processing
  • Volumen Flow Measurements
  • Wall Shear Stress Measurements
  • MEMS
  • Error Analysis
