Floating Offshore Wind Turbine with Hinge
Based on an innovative patent by Windbuoyy AG a floating horizontal axis wind turbine is developed. The concept includes a hinged nacelle which enables the nacelle to tilt and thus to compensate the wave induced motion of the floating tower. The benefit of this concept is the drastic reduction of balast usually needed for conventional floating offshore designs, e.g. spar buoy.
